What is Integrated Functional Manual Therapy?

Integrated Functional Manual Therapy is the predominant form of therapy we use at Kinections Inc.

From a technical perspective, Integr‍‍‍ated Functional Manual Therapy involves the application of accurately determined and specifically directed manual forces to the body. Its objective is to improve mobility in the areas that are restricted, whether the restrictions are in the connective tissues or in the skeletal muscles.

The after-effects may include the improvement of posture and locomotion, the relief of pain and discomfort, the improvement of function elsewhere in the body, and enhancement of a sense of wellbeing.

The selection of the body sites for treatment are based on signs provided by palpation, including muscular and fascial tension, as well as visual observation of body contour, posture, and locomotion.

Treatment effects are achieved through improved locomotion, improved dynamics of body fluids (including blood circulation and lymph drainage), and in the nervous system.

We use our years of experience and training, combined with a variety of proven, hands-on, manual therapy techniques to help our patients move better, feel better, and achieve a reduction in pain. The exact expression of treatment varies from person to person, and is impossible to determine without an in-person evaluation.

We’re here to help our patients feel better. However, if we feel we cannot properly help them, or that somatic therapy is not the right course, we will refer them to another care provider, if appropriate.

SPORTS-SPECIFIC BIOMECHANICAL ASSESSMENT

Get help with an injury without having to completely change your workout.

Kinections Inc.’s Certified Athletic Trainer and Integrative Functional Manual Therapist, Lino Cedros, believes that specific injuries can often be treated without having to completely change your workout routine. In fact, Lino specializes in “hard to treat” injuries, and believes in keeping athletes functional throughout rehabilitation by not completely pulling them from their sport (depending on the circumstances and the injury).

Athletes and Musicians: Improve your swing, your stroke, your stride, or your technique with an expert biomechanical assessment.

Athletes at every level, from elementary school to professional-level sports, can benefit from an outside perspective. Athletic coaches and amateur athletes alike often rely on Lino to provide a sports-specific biomechanical assessment that objectively examines specific movement patterns in the context of their sport.

Most athletic trainers can spot a problem in the way an athlete is moving, but Lino is renowned for his ability to assess the biomechanical reason for the dysfunction, and address realistic strategies for improvement.

Biomechanical assessments are also a great way to prevent injuries from occurring in the first place.

Professional musicians have also benefited from Lino’s expertise by learning how to improve their technique and prevent repetitive injuries.
